Several months ago I bought a Ficus Elastica Robusta (Rubber Plant) for my classroom. Sadly this got knocked over by a careless student and the top part broke off. I contained my anger as the student apologised profusely. I repotted it and then placed it back on the window sill. To my great delight, a few weeks ago, I came into school after the half term holiday and saw that it had sprouted a new growth as can be seen in the picture. Since then it has flourished even further. So, no matter what set backs in life we receive, with the right care and response, these can be capitalised on. I used this plant to teach my class about resilience and they responded with an applause. As a point of interest, the word 'Robusta' is Latin and means...yes you guessed it... robust.
