SATS vs Good Mathematicians

With one week now until the SATs exams I want to use this opportunity to praise the young people I teach at Rushey Green Primary School. From day one, I've told them my job is to make them 'Good Mathematicians' and they have exceeded my expectations. Our mantra is 'Excellence in all things' and they have truly displayed this attitude in their learning. They will excel in this test, because they can do maths. What do I mean by this? They have absorbed what I have taught. They have asked the right kinds of questions. They have an insatiable curiosity. They have responded to my corrections. They have communicated mathematically. They have mastered numerical calculations at speeds that even dazzle me - and I'm pretty fast. So, Year Six, a BIG "well done" from me. Don't loose the hunger for maths and remember if your head isn't hurting, then you're not being stretched. All the best with your exams in May.
