....are good learners. It is often the perception that students who are slow about their work are struggling and weak. I've taken time now to spot these students and ask the question: why are they slow? President Abraham Lincoln once said:"I am slow to learn and slow to forget what I have learned. My mind is like a piece of steel, very hard to scratch anything on it and almost impossible after you get it there to rub it out." More often than not, the slow students are the reflective ones. They like to understand why, rather than just blindly accept what they are taught, learning in a 'rote' manner. The challenge for teachers is to accomodate these children and avoid the temptation to race ahead.
