In educational circles we sometimes refer to our most able students as G&T, namely gifted and talented. Students may be one or the other and are placed on a special register. It generally covers the 'best' 10% of the school's students. So what if you are not on this register? The implications are that you are not gifted or talented. So 90% of our young people potentially start a process of deflation - expectations lowered, self esteems damaged, purposes and ambitions clouded. I tell my students that they are all gifted. As a Christian, this is very much part of my psyche and I believe it is an important principle to for us all to grasp. Next time you are asked: "Gifted or talented?" please respond, "Yes, both please". If you don't see your gifts or talents, dig and keep digging... they are most definately there and waiting to be harnessed and used.
